Our development process for fundraising starts with the end in mind. How much do we need to raise for us to deliver the strategic plan? How many donors will we need, what are their age demographics, are they tech savvy or not, whats our mix of indvidual and corporate, can we secure government grants or foundation money.
Whilst some of this may seem like crystal ball gazing, it helps us allocate our resources and based upon current industry trends and technologies, we can estimate the returns on each sector.
Planning a program in such a way helps us allocate precious NFP resources. It also helps us create a strategy to ask for support for a sector from a potential partner if we’re short of resources for a sector that we think can bring significant returns.
Before we start we also review the strengths of all members and sections of your organisation. Who knows who, what level of board interaction will happen with campaigns, will they actively ask or do they leave it to the team? How involved are the admin teams and do they have the resources or capacity to scale up should a campaign become more successful than planned? Do we have the technology and platforms in place or can we access them to support initiatives at minimal cost or even as a donation from a partner should they help improve the campaign outcome.
These questions and more are part of our pre planning process. Once we have a road map we can help execute and you’re on your way.
